Career

Since Jang broke into theatre in 1995 with plays like Heotang, he has developed a style that mixes humor, melodrama, and observation of society. Jang's experience in film first began back in 1995 when he assisted with the screenplay of A Hot Roof. After directing a short film, his first feature The Happenings was screened at the Pusan International Film Festival in 1998. Jang's biggest box-office success to date was with Guns and Talks (2001), a comedy about four talkative assassins that was a hit in Korea, and is also being remade for the Chinese market. Besides his feature films, he also continued to participate in short film festivals such as the Environment Film Festival, and the Seoul Human Rights Film Festival.[2]

He is also the CEO of the film production company Film It Suda and co-founder of the film production company KnJ Entertainment Inc.

In 2008 he remounted Wretched People, a play he had written when he was twenty-three.[3]

In 2011 Jang was a judge on the first season of Korea's Got Talent and is currently the director of Saturday Night Live Korea and the anchor for SNLK's version of Weekend Update.
